Memory 30 (trivial neutral), 31 (significant positive)

NEXT kidnapping sisters. Form of a cootie catcher. One use. Episode 9, second half.

Kotetsu is asleep shirtless with a terrible hangover on the floor of Barnaby's apartment (fortunately or unfortunately he has the memory leading up to that already), but they are woken up by a call from Agnes. She barges in with a bunch of baby supplies for the mayor's baby that apparently they were supposed to be taking care of (with Dragon Kid), but it turns out Dragon Kid took the baby and went out. Agnes calls her, but a strange woman answers. It turns out she's one of a group of kidnappers who are attempting to hold them hostage.

They use Agnes as a stand-in for their mother to lure them out, then attempt to chase them down, but by the time Tiger and Barnaby get there Dragon Kid and the baby (who is a telekinetic NEXT) have already saved the day and lit a lot of things on fire with an exploding truck. Tiger picks up one of the kidnappers' tazers, and then the sight of him holding a "gun" and sillhouetted in the flames triggers Barnaby, who grabs his head and jumps away.

"I figured it out! Jake's second power. " / "I believed that you would trust me." Form of a Sterling-colored candle. Light it. 7/9 uses remaining.

Episode 13, all of the parts Kotetsu is conscious for up until Jake is defeated.

Kotetsu wakes up, heavily injured and in a hospital bed, in a room with Bison, Sky High, and Origami, all also heavily injured, to the sound of Agnes over the intercom giving the uninjured heroes orders on where to go. He tries to stand up and asks where he should go, but Blue Rose yells at him that he's useless as he is, and since he's Barnaby's partner he should be trying to figure out a way for him to beat Jake. He sits down.

Meanwhile, on the television, Barnaby is in fact having his arena duel with Jake. He hasn't used his power yet, and he's not landing any hits. Bison confirms that he hadn't hit him while Kotetsu was unconscious, either. The only one of them who have landed any hits on Jake is Kotetsu, accidentally, while he was falling.

Jake continues beating on Barnaby, and eventually gives him a hint. God has allowed him to have ~two powers~. The first is his force field-barrier-lasers, and the second is presumably what keeps any of them from being able to land a hit on them. After a moment, Kotetsu figures out what his second power is. He again tries to get up, to go tell Barnaby. The other heroes again tell him he's way too injured, but he says it has to be him. He then uses his Hundred Power to heal himself, much to the other heroes' surprise, gets dressed and heads out. It's only surface healing, though, and he still has a fairly painful and bleeding gut wound. He calls Dr. Saito to borrow a flashbang grenade and then heads to the arena!

After climbing up to the top of the arena, he waits for Barnaby to get knocked up there, and catches him when he staggers. He informs Barnaby that he's figured out Jake's second power. It's super hearing. He was listening to their muscles move to predict their movements. He hands Barnaby the grenade and tells him to use it to ruin his hearing. Barnaby says that's stupid and he'll do it on his own, but Kotetsu asks him to trust him. Barnaby then notices that there's blood on the grenade, and looks at Kotetsu's side, where the blood has soaked through his shirt and vest.

Barnaby goes back down and does, in fact, use the grenade, which makes at loud noise while Jake laughs at him and pretends to cover his ears. He still dodges Barnaby's attack. Then the grenade switches to a bright flash, startling both Jake and Barnaby, and Kotetsu yells "Now, Barnaby!" from the roof. Barnaby attacks and lands a solid hit on Jake, probably breaking some ribs since he's using his Hundred Power. Then he follows him to the roof where he knocked him and grabs him by the neck, muttering that he'll take his revenge for his parents while Jake stutters and pleads for his life, telling him that as a hero he shouldn't hurt him...! Kotetsu just stands there, believing fully that Barnaby won't actually do it. And, after a glance at Kotetsu, Barnaby does in fact drop him, telling him to spend his life repenting for his crimes.

Barnaby tells him he should have told him what the grenade was, but Kotetsu says Jake would have figured it out then! He reveals that Jake's real second power is mind reading, which he realized after thinking about how Jake called him "Kotetsu." Barnaby tells him he should have come up with something more believable than super-hearing, because what if he didn't believe him?! Kotetsu assures Barnaby that he trusted he would believe him. ///

Unfortunately then Kreim shows up in a helicopter to retreive Jake, yelling about their hostages. The big television screen switches to HeroTV, showing Blue Rose, Fire Emblem, and Dragon Kid where they have taken out all the mechasuits that were holding the city hostage. Kreim then tries to fly in to rescue Jake directly, but Kotetsu stops them with his wires (despite his injury), and the helicopter crashes. Jake falls to his death, and Kreim falls out unconscious.

The day is saved!
