Memory 22 (significant negative)
vs. Jake. "I can hear everything." [12] Form of a brightly colored party cracker. You need a friend to hold the other end (and it shares the memory). Since it is a sig-neg, it also comes with a giant red WARNING!! label.
On the monitor, the heroes watch Jake and Kriem draw the next hero to fight. It comes up as Wild Tiger. He celebrates! But Jake mocks him and says he won't last a second, so he'll draw the next one too. The next one is Barnaby, and Jake comments that they really are a team. Barnaby and Kotetsu share a strained look. They both head for the door.
Barnaby: I'm going to check on my suit.
Kotetsu: Don't bother getting ready. I'll end it here.
Barnaby turns away.
Kotetsu: Hey... I know, I screwed up. I'm sorry.
Barnaby keeps walking.
Later, Kotetsu confronts Jake in the arena. Since he can't beat his barriers with brute force, he says he'll try speed. He activates his power and starts the fight. But he can't hit Jake at all, despite the fact that Jake doesn't even seem to really be trying.
Eventually his power runs out. Jake says "You don't have a chance against me. I can hear everything." But Kotetsu keeps fighting. This is extremely ill-advised, but "like I'd ever give up!!" He does manage to land one hit on Jake via tripping dramatically and then hitting him on the head with his heel, but then Jake curses him out by name (Kotetsu), kicks him until his helmet breaks, slams him into a wall, and uses his barrier-lasers to beat him unconscious.
