Memory 21 (trivial positive)
Take some time off, the media might criticize us for violating labor laws. Mad Bear shopping. [10] Form of a small silver bottle of liquid that tastes like mead. 2/5 sips remaining.
Kotetsu has a video phone conversation with Kaede in which he drills her on multiplication tables and is surprised she does so well, and she gets mad at him for treating her like a child and walks away. His mother comes on, and tells him that she's just upset because she lost her favorite stuffed animal, but tells Kotetsu that he should really come visit more often. He says the job doesn't give him much time off. Eventually they hang up, and he gives the family photos on his dresser (especially the one with him holding Kaede alone) a somewhat melancholy look.
AS IT TURNS OUT, the next day, Lloyds tells him that he's racked up plenty of time off, and he should take two or three days starting tomorrow or the media will criticize them for violating labor laws. They don't need him that much, they'll be fine with Barnaby there! Kotetsu suspects the real reason here, which is that they want to get the other heroes out of the spotlight since Barnaby is only a few points away from surpassing ~King of Heroes, Sky High~ for the top-ranked spot.
SO HE PLANS TO TAKE A FEW DAYS OFF and goes to a toy store to buy a present for Kaede. He gets convinced to buy a Mad Bear even though it's kind of ugly and weird looking because the guy selling them tells him THEY ARE SUPER POPULAR AND RARE AND HE JUST DOESN'T UNDERSTAND KIDS THESE DAYS. Kotetsu is a pushover.
Notes:
THIS IS ACTUALLY MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE CONTENTS OF THE MEMORY WOULD INDICATE since this is actually... the first memory he has gotten of being in his apartment and talking to his family on the phone. So this is actually the first indication he has had that something happened to his wife! In fact given his feelings looking at the photos and the fact that his mom told him she wished he was around more, he will highly suspect that Tomoe died somehow. :( SAD... BUT HE WON'T REALLY DEAL WITH THIS UNTIL HE'S COMPLETELY CERTAIN.
