Memory 9 (significant negative)
Becoming a NEXT as a child. "I used to hate my powers, and cried every day." Form of a sterling-colored lollipop. 2/3 licks remaining.
Kotetsu's powers first showed up when he was around ten or so! At that point NEXT powes had only existed for maybe 10-15 years, and becoming a hero wasn't nearly as much of a thing (because Legend was the first one). It also took him a while to learn to control them, during which time they activated sporadically and he broke a lot of stuff because that happens when you're abruptly 100 times stronger than you're expecting. Possibly he also hurt people a time or two, given the fact that he says "I'm not supposed to touch people when I'm glowing like this," though probably not ever extremely badly or he would have mentioned it. Regardless, his friends were creeped out and started avoiding him.
He was extremely frustrated, alienated and unhappy! As it says, he hated his powers and cried every day. This memory is a general childhood montage of that, home and school life for several months at least, ending before he meets Legend.
